Ipamorelin Peptide Vial
Ipamorelin, a natural prolactin-type growth hormone secretagogue, is approved for the treatment of idiopathic hypoglycemia (irritable bowel syndrome) and the control of obesity in patients with diabetes mellitus.
A few studies showed that Ipamorelin, when used in combination with certain medications for hyperthyroidism, may cause an increase in plasma thyroxine. This can result in hypotension or an increase in the blood pressure. It is not known if such an effect would occur if Ipamorelin were used to treat hypothyroidism, although it could increase the risk for cardiovascular disease.
The role of the pituitary gland in thyroid function is not fully understood. It is suspected that pituitary tumours affect thyroid function by increasing the hypothalamic-pituitary axis activity. Thyroid hormones play an essential role in the synthesis of growth hormone, a substance that promotes the growth and maintenance of lean body mass. A prolonged deficiency in growth hormone secretion results in obesity and insulin resistance. However, this peptide has not been tested in clinical trials on hypothyroid patients.
The role of Ipamorelin in the regulation of thyroid function and pituitary gland activity is unknown. Some clinical studies have shown increased levels of ghrelin in the serum of patients who had received this peptide. Ghrelin is a potent anti-obesity agent that increases the metabolism and decreases food intake.
